Going Dutch
Living in The Netherlands with my husband and then Sammamish, Washington made me realize that no matter where you are, you can always find a piece of home if you look hard enough. Whether I make it myself or find it tucked away in a store, my goal is to share my discoveries with you so you can bring a bit of Holland into your own home as well.
Sammsterdam is my way of blending Dutch and American so we can enjoy traditions and experiences from both cultures. I'm always on the hunt for hidden Dutch treasures in local stores or trying to figure out how to make them myself using ingredients found right here in the Pacific Northwest.
The Art of Baking
I thrive on trying new techniques, recipes, and styles of baking. I'm not sure if I want to call myself a cake and cookie artist, but that's how I see my creations...blank canvases. I am a self taught baker but heavily inspired by watching my mom decorate special occasion cakes as a child growing up. Our family has generations of bakers!
I spend hours watching tutorials, reading books on kitchen science, collecting recipes, and experimenting to continually improve my portfolio and be able to offer more diverse and higher quality products than others out there.
