King's Day Activities For Home

Celebrating King's Day at home? My family too, gezellig!

I've put together some fun ideas that you can do at home to help bring some Dutch colors, decorations, or crafts to your table and involve the entire family. Make some photo booth props and send silly pictures to people near and far, whip up a quick and colorful treat, or make something you can wear. There are lots of ways to add a fun twist to your day.

Be sure to share pictures of your party with me over on my Facebook page, I'd love to see what your celebration looked like!

Fold a Crown

Instructions from Met Sprongen VooruitGrab some paper and fold a crown to wear or decorate you table with. You can get the instruction sheet from the Met Sprongen Vooruit website.

Color by Number

English 1= dark blue, 2=yellow, 3=red, 4= black, 5= white, 6= orange, 7= light blue

Make a Bracelet

There are tons of ideas for making your own bracelets online. Use buttons, pony beads, yarn, ribbon, old shirts cut into strips and braided, pipe cleaners...you probably have something at home right now you could use. Here are just a few images to inspire you.

Play Bingo

Make a Red, White, Blue Dessert

Layer some fresh blueberries, anything white like yogurt, whipped cream, or ice cream, and top with fresh red fruits or jams. Treats can be fun and healthy! If you want to make the exact one in the picture, go to the Albert Heijn website for the recipe.

Poop a Nail (Spijkerpoepen)

Posted by Utexpat on www.angloinfo.comSpijkerpoepen should be the new party game of 2020 don't you agree? All you need is some string, a nail, and a bottle and you'll have hours of entertainment for young and old. This blog had several other old fashioned Dutch games for an afternoon of laughs. Don't forget to try koekhappen!

Dancing King

This one was too funny not to include! The Digital Bakery blog had this printable file that caught my attention.

Get Crafty with Perler Beads

Bead ideas from Meisje EigenwijseMake some pins, magnets, or pendants using plastic beads. The Meisje Eigenwijse website had these ideas PLUS she has a free window decoration template too!

Make a Windsock

All it needs is a few pieces of orange and you can transform this 4th of July windsock into a King's Day windsock! You could use materials like: crepe paper, plastic tablecloth cut into strips, ribbon, or fabric or old shirts cut up.
